Am I So Foolish?

Tonight I read Galatians with some friends. It was a good time, and I gained a lot of insight.

The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.”  -Galatians 3:8

I never realized before that Abraham was saved by the same gospel that Christians claim. This week I have been challenged to remember that I am saved by faith, and not by my own efforts.

Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort?  -Galatians 3:3

This time last year was a turning point in my life, which I owe completely to God’s Spirit at work in me. Am I so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, I have been trying to attain my goals, and become a good person by my own effort. God is reminding me of my total reliance on Him.
